Balanced Offense Carries Men's Soccer Over Lynx on Homecoming

The Mariners saw six different goal scorers in a 6-0 NAC victory

Box Score CASTINE--The Maine Maritime Academy men's soccer team erupted for five goals in the second half to claim a 6-0 Homecoming victory Saturday over visiting Lesley University in North Atlantic Conference action at Ritchie Field. The Mariners improve to 3-4-1 overall and 2-2 in the NAC, while the visiting Lynx fall to 2-7 on the season and 1-2 in the conference.

How It Happened
  • Crea staked MMA to a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute on a free kick from about 30 yards out, bending the shot around the Lynx wall into the bottom left corner
  • After halftime, Morgan scored an insurance goal on a feed from Crea in the 50th minute.
  • Villeneuve made it 3-0 in the 53rd minute when he cleaned up a failed LU clear at the 6-yard box.
  • Starting in the 59th minute, Fortuna-Ramos and Dickenson scored their first goals of the season just 1 minute and 52 seconds apart to make it 5-0. Fortuna-Ramos finished off back-to-back header passes from Morgan and Dickenson, while the latter whipped a right-footed volley on a right-wing pass by freshman back Garrison Fisher.
  • Fereghetti wrapped up the scoring with his first collegiate tally in the 74th minute.
  • Maine Maritime had the edge in shots (15-13), shots on goal (8-6) and corner kicks (5-1).

  • Maine Maritime will be on the road on Friday for a NAC matchup against Thomas College in Waterville. Opening kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
