Mariners Jinx the Lynx in NAC Women's Basketball Road Action, 76-58

Freshman Addison Forry leads four MMA scorers in double-digits with 14 points

LEXINGTON, Mass.--Freshman Addison Forry scored a career-high 14 points, senior Sydney Briscoe recorded a double-double of 11 points and a game-best 11 rebounds, as the Maine Maritime Academy women's basketball team led buzzer-to-buzzer in a 76-58 North Atlantic Conference victory over host Lesley University at Minuteman Gymnasium on Friday evening. The Mariners up their record to 10-3 on the season and 5-0 in the NAC East Division, while the Lynx fall to 5-8 overall and 1-3 in the NAC-West. 

Maine Maritime Highlights
  • Sophomore Hailey Blanchard chipped in 13 points on 4-for-5 field goal shooting and junior Evelyn Dagan scored 12 on four 3-pointers.
  • Forry made 6-of-7 free throw attempts, grabbed six rebounds, dished three assists and tied Briscoe with a game-high three steals.
  • Senior Makenzie Monzon (6 points) and Jasmine Anderson (2 blocks) both had seven rebounds to help MMA have a strong presence on the glass.
  • Dagan's statline also included a career-high three blocks to lead all student-athletes and two steals.

  • Ahidali DeHuelbes scored 17 points to lead all scorers to go along with five rebounds and three assists.
  • Bella Terry notched a double-double, too, with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
  • Savannah Gravitt chipped in 11 points and added three assists.
  • Leila Chisholm tallied 10 points, five assists and three rebounds.
How it Happened
  • Maine Maritime used a strong start to lead 25-13 after the first quarter as the Mariners never trailed.
  • The Mariners outrebounded the Lynx, 48-32, and scored 14 second-chance points. 
  • MMA, which held a 35-27 lead at halftime, also outscored Lesley 32-20 inside the paint and 20-9 in bench points.
  • The visitors led by double-digits for the entire second half, including the biggest lead of 24 points at the midpoint of the fourth quarter.
Beyond the Boxscore
  • Maine Maritime leads the all-time series 22-3, including 21 consecutive wins over Lesley; the Mariners are 9-2 on the Lynx' homecourt.
  • Forry's career night also included those three assists and three steals.
  • The Mariners have won their last three games by an average 76-39 score.
  • Briscoe has three double-doubles on the season.
