CASTINE--In a tale of two halves for both teams, Maine Maritime Academy played better down the stretch by erasing a double-digit deficit in the second half to rally past visiting SUNY-Delhi, 69-60, in North Atlantic Conference men's basketball action at Smith Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon. The Mariners improve to 8-5 on the season and 5-2 in the NAC-East Division, while the Broncos (6-11 overall) lead the NAC-West at 3-3.
Maine Maritime Highlights
- Senior co-captain Curt Heinz dropped a double-double with game highs of 32 points (including a career-best 4-for-6 from three-point range) and 15 rebounds. He rounded out his statline with five steals, four blocked shots and six assists.
- Classmate and fellow co-captain Carter Rubin had 12 points and four rebounds.
- Classmate Markus Ramirez produced 10 points and three rebounds.
- Junior Josiah Dancy (7 points, 3 rebounds) dished seven assists to top all playmakers.
SUNY-Delhi Highlights
- Warren Davis recorded a double-double with 13 points (6-10 FGs) and 12 rebounds.
- Brennan Heaven added 13 points on 6-for-11 from the field.

How it Happened
- Maine Maritime, which trailed 35-26 in the first half, shot 56.0 percent from the field (14-25) and held Delhi to a 33.3 clip (10-30) in the second.
- The Mariners opened a 6-0 on a pair of treys from Rubin.
- Delhi didn't get on the scoreboard until 15 minutes and 52 seconds showing on the clock when Heaven converted a jumper.
- The teams traded points over the next several minutes before the Broncos took their first lead, 16-13, at the 10:40 mark on a 3ball by Louis.
- With Delhi leading 25-24 with 3:06 to go, the Broncos went on a 10-2 run to close the first 20 minutes.
- Davis made a layup to start the second half as Delhi enjoyed the biggest lead of the game for either side of 11 points.
- In the first half, the Broncos shot 51.7 percent (15-29 FGs) while holding the Mariners to 33.3 percent (11-33).
- Trailing 42-31 with 17:19 left in the contest, MMA started its comeback with a Rubin layup and Heinz 3ball on back-to-back possessions to cut the deficit to 42-36.
- After a Delhi basket, MMA went on an 11-0 run over a 4:56 span to take its first lead in the second half, 47-44, at 7:37.
- Barnes made a trey to knot the score at 47-all, but Heinz reciprocated two possessions later to put the Mariners ahead to stay.
- Maine Maritime sealed the win by having a two-possession lead for the final 5:56.
