Mariners Stomp Broncos to Set MMA Single-Game Scoring Record

Addison Forry had a career- and game-high 22 points in a 115-21 NAC victory

CASTINE--Freshman Addison Forry scored a career- and game-high 22 points off the bench as the Maine Maritime Academy women's basketball team set a pair of single-game program records for points and field goals made in a 115-21 victory over visiting SUNY-Delhi in North Atlantic Conference action at Smith Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon. The Mariners improve to 13-3 on the season and 7-0 in the NAC-East Division, while the Broncos remain winless at 0-15 overall and 0-6 in the NAC-West.

Maine Maritime Highlights
  • Sophomore Hailey Blanchard tallied 10 points as well as career highs of seven assists (against zero turnovers) and three steals.
  • Senior Sydney Briscoe notched a double-double with 17 points (8-9 FGs) and a game-high 14 rebounds.
  • Classmates Makenzie Monzon (7 points) and Kirsten Grindel dished eight and six assists, respectively, without committing a turnover combined.
  • Junior Grace Huntwork chipped in 16 points (6-11 FGs, 4-7 3FGs) and had four rebounds, two assists and two steals.
  • Forry, who made 11 of her 12 field goal attempts, also pulled down eight rebounds and had four steals.

  • Samantha Miller led the Broncos with 11 points.
  • Jewel Torres paced the team with nine rebounds, two assists and two steals.
How it Happened
  • Maine Maritime led buzzer-to-buzzer while darting out to big advantages after the first quarter (33-6) and first half (66-9).
  • The Mariners shot 62.0 percent from the field (49-79), limited Delhi to a 14.8 clip (8-54) and outrebounded the Broncos, 52-24.
  • Maine Maritime made five more three-point field goals (13-for-33) than Delhi made TOTAL field goals.
  • The Mariners forced 22 turnovers, recorded 15 steals and outscored the Broncos, 30-4, off those miscues.
Beyond the Boxscore
  • Maine Maritime has won six games in a row, outscoring opponents by a 79-39 combined average score during that stretch.
  • The teams were meeting for just the second time since Jan. 14, 2020, which was a 79-36 win for MMA.
  • Ten of 13 players who entered the game for MMA scored at least one point.
  • The 115 points breaks the previous benchmark of 113 versus Maritime College (Nov. 17, 2006) and the 49 field goals made bests the 47 against the Privateers.
  • Forry ties the fourth-best single-game field goal percentage held by two others at 91.7 percent, or 11-for-12 made-attempted. 
  • Maine Maritime committed a season-low five turnovers.
