Curt Heinz recorded game highs of 19 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists, but Maine Maritime committed 14 turnovers that led to 18 Bates points, as the host Mariners lost a hard-fought non-conference men's basketball game, 63-58, to the Bobcats at Smith Gymnasium on Tuesday evening. Maine Maritime falls to 11-6 overall while Bates improves to 10-8.

- Reigning Maine Men's Basketball Coaches and Writers Association Player of the Week sophomore Jack Banks scored 15 points off the bench, making 6-of-12 field goal attempts and grabbing eight rebounds.
- Senior Markus Ramirez chipped in 11 points on 4-for-8 from the field, including 3-for-7 beyond the arc.

- Marc Begin II led the Bobcats off the bench with 15 points.
- Peter Psyhogeos contributed 14 points, four assists and seven rebounds, while Elliott Cravitz chipped in 12 points on four treys.
How it Happened
- Maine Maritime imposed its will inside the paint, outscoring Bates 34-20.
- But the Bobcats outscored the Mariners on turnovers, 18-9, and had a deeper bench (25-15).
- The teams traded baskets to open the game as freshman Gabe Hagar's (6 points, 2 steals) 3ball gave MMA its only lead at 3-2.
- The Bobcats went on a 9-0 run on treys by Keenan Sparks, Begin and Cole Decker to go up 11-3 with 12 minutes and 12 seconds left in the first half.
- Maine Maritime got to within two points at 15-13 before Bates went on a 13-4 run to take a 28-17--its largest lead of the opening half.
- The Bobcats led 32-23 at the intermission and built their largest advantage of 15 points on a Cravitz trey to open the second half, 35-23.
- Maine Maritime, however, didn't back down and eventually got to within four points. But Bates was able to keep MMA at bay.
