Curt Heinz also had a game-high 21 points to lead four Mariners in double-digits as the Maine Maritime Academy men's basketball squad held off visiting Vermont State University-Lyndon, 70-58, at Smith Gymnasium on Tuesday.
Maine Maritime levels its record to 5-5 overall and 2-2 in the North Atlantic Conference East Division, while VSU-Lyndon is now 4-10 on the season (1-2 NAC-West).

- Senior Markus Ramirez scored 10 points,had four rebounds and matched Heinz (8 rebounds, two blocked shots) with a game-best five assists (against zero turnovers).
- Junior Josiah Dancy also had 10 points with four assists, three rebounds and three steals.
VSU-Lyndon Highlights
- Wesley McIntyre tallied 14 points off the bench and Deshawn Ford added 12.
- Matt Doyle (7 points) and Brett Roy (4 assists) both led the team with seven rebounds.

- Maine Maritime never trailed in a contest that featured two ties, 2-2 and 4-4.
- A trey by freshman Gabe Hagar (3 points, 3 rebounds, 4 steals) gave MMA the lead for good at 7-4 with 17 minutes and 34 seconds on the first-half clock.
- Maine Maritime eventually built a 10-point lead, 26-16, with 4:01 to go before the Hornets went on an 11-4 run to close within 30-27 at the break.
- The Mariners outscored the Hornets, 16-4, on second-chance points.
- In the second half, MMA maintained a two-possession lead for the last 20 minutes to seal the win.
