LYNDONVILLE, Vt. — The Maine Maritime Academy women's soccer team earned an 8-0 road win over Vermont State University Lyndon in North Atlantic Conference play on Saturday.
Maine Maritime (8-3-0, 5-0-0 NAC) wasted little time getting on the board. Sophomore
Hadley Stoddard scored in the second minute for the eventual game-winning goal before adding her second in the fifth minute off an assist from senior
Mayako Brown.
Junior
Abby Wong followed with back-to-back goals in the seventh and ninth minutes, both assisted by Stoddard, to give the Mariners a commanding 4-0 lead.
Sophomore
Eva Washko scored Maine Maritime's fifth goal on an assist from freshman
Tarin Barrett, while junior
Lillyanna Ash added the sixth. Senior
Rebecca Simmons netted her first goal of the season off a pass from Ash before freshman
Cora Brewster tallied her first collegiate goal to cap the scoring.
The Mariners held a 19-0 advantage in shots, including 14 on goal.
Maine Maritime returns to action Sunday at noon against Vermont State University Johnson.
