JOHNSON, Vt. — The Maine Maritime Academy women's soccer team dropped a hard-fought North Atlantic Conference road match to Vermont State University Johnson on Sunday.
Maine Maritime (8-4-0, 5-1 NAC) took a 1-0 lead early in the first half when senior
Mayako Brown scored off an assist from sophomore
Hadley Stoddard.
The Mariners controlled the opening half, holding a 10-3 advantage in shots and a 6-1 edge in shots on goal.
In the second half, Johnson (6-3-3, 3-1-2 NAC) tied the game in the 50th minute and scored the eventual game-winner just two minutes later.
Maine Maritime continued to press, finishing the half with a 10-6 advantage in total shots and a 5-4 edge in shots on goal.
Brown led the Mariners with four shots, including three on goal, while Stoddard added four shots and junior
Lillyanna Ash recorded three.
Maine Maritime returns home Wednesday to host Colby College at Ritchie Field for an in-state matchup starting at 7 p.m.
