CASTINE, Maine — The Maine Maritime Academy women's soccer team returned to the field Saturday, defeating the University of Maine at Presque Isle on Senior Day.
Maine Maritime (10-5-0, 6-1-0 NAC) took a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute when senior
Mayako Brown scored on a double assist from sophomore
Hadley Stoddard and junior
Sophia Hernandez over UMPI (2-12-1, 2-6-0 NAC).
Stoddard added her 16th goal of the season in the 19th minute on an assist from junior
Abby Wong for a 2-0 lead. Wong extended the advantage to 3-0 in the 51st minute, connecting with sophomore
Charlotte Manes for a goal.
Brown added her second goal of the game in the 52nd minute on an assist from junior
Bella Scolaro, then completed her Senior Day hat trick with an unassisted strike in the 66th minute.
Stoddard netted her 17th goal in the 71st minute to make it 6-0, and junior
Megan Dorr capped the scoring in the 76th minute with a goal assisted by Wong—her third assist of the match.
The Mariners finished with a 32-2 advantage in total shots and a 21-2 edge in shots on goal.
Maine Maritime hosts Lesley University on Sunday in a pivotal North Atlantic Conference matchup beginning at noon.
