LEXINGTON, Mass. — The Maine Maritime Academy volleyball team picked up a 3-0 victory over Lesley University on the road in North Atlantic Conference action Friday evening.
Maine Maritime (16-7, 6-0 NAC) led from the start against Lesley (0-24, 0-7 NAC), jumping out to an 8-0 advantage over the Lynx and never trailing on its way to a 25-14 opening-set win.
In the second set, the Mariners built an early 10-4 lead and closed out the frame on a 15-8 run to take a 2-0 match advantage.
Lesley battled the Mariners early in the third set, pulling even at 6-6 before Maine Maritime pulled ahead 14-8 and finished the night on an 11-6 run to secure the 3-0 sweep and remain unbeaten in conference play.
Senior
Ila Smith led the Mariners with a match-high 11 kills, while junior
Sydney Williams added 10 and senior
Bre Kerr chipped in seven.
Freshman
Ayla Altman recorded a match-high three aces—tying Williams—and also led all players with 10 digs. Junior
Ally Hadley dished out a match-high 20 assists, and senior
Hunnie Zuber-Stephens added 18.
Sophomore
Hannah Tate contributed eight digs, while Kerr tallied seven.
The Mariners will have a quick turnaround Saturday, facing Mount Holyoke College and Bates College in a tri-match hosted by Mount Holyoke beginning at 11 a.m.
