Houghton, Harris, Companik earn CNE football all-conference honors

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Conference of New England announced its football all-conference awards on Wednesday and Maine Maritime Academy had three student-athletes recognized.

Sophomore Lucas Houghton garnered first team all-conference honors at defensive back after leading the team and the CNE with 102 tackles. Houghton tallied 58 solo stops, 44 assisted, one interception, two tackles for loss, two pass breakups and one fumble recovery. The sophomore earned CNE defensive player of the week honors one time and became first player since 2010 to record over 100 tackles in a season.

Sophomore Auston Harris earned second team honors after finishing the season with 1,005 yards on 181 carries and seven touchdowns. Harris also led the team with 16 receptions, tallying 91 yards and a touchdown. Additionally, Harris became the first running back since the 2014 season to surpass the 1,000-yard plateau and also broke the program record for longest rush in a game with a 98-yard scoring run against New England College. Harris finished the season with five 100-yard games and four game of over 140 yards gained, including a career-best 195 against NEC.

Additionally, sophomore Kai Companik was selected with the Mariners CNE community service award.
