CASTINE, Maine — The Maine Maritime Academy football team fell 70–7 to Western New England University on Saturday in Commonwealth of New England (CNE) play, closing out their 2025 home schedule.
Western New England (5–4, 3–3 CNE) jumped out to a 21–0 lead after the first quarter and extended the advantage to 42–0 early in the second before the Mariners (0–9, 0–6 CNE) broke through. Sophomore
Auston Harris provided the highlight of the day for Maine Maritime, breaking free for a 75-yard touchdown run that capped a 14-second drive. Harris finished with an impressive 151 rushing yards on 17 carries, averaging 8.9 yards per attempt.
The Golden Bears added another score before halftime to take a 49–7 lead into the break, then tacked on three more touchdowns in the second half to seal the 70–7 victory.
Offensively,
Will Keach contributed a 26-yard reception, while defensively
Lucas Houghton led the Mariners with 19 tackles.
Connor Cuba added 11 stops,
Matt Gagin recorded eight, and senior
Jack Coleman tallied six in his final home game.
Maine Maritime will close out its 2025 season on the road next Saturday against Husson University, with kickoff set for 1 p.m.
