Cox, Hedstrom win two events in men’s swimming & diving’s meet against Saint Michael’s, Bridgewater State

COLCHESTER, Vt. — The Maine Maritime Academy men's swimming & diving team returned to action Sunday, falling to Saint Michael's College (160–77) and Bridgewater State University (135–96) in a road dual meet.

The Mariners opened with a third-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay, as freshmen Connor Hedstrom, Tim Reda, Matthew LeVesque and Ryan Johnson Rees clocked in at 1:43.66.

Senior James Creegan placed fourth in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:18.37), while Johnson Rees, LeVesque and Dominic Miele followed closely in the 200 freestyle.

Hedstrom continued his standout weekend, winning the 50 freestyle (22.07) and placing second in the 100 freestyle (49.20).

In diving, senior Oliver Cox swept both events, scoring 247.05 on the three-meter board and 241.00 on the one-meter.

Other top performers included Reda, who took fourth in the 200 IM (2:10.14) and third in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.74), and LeVesque, who finished fourth in the 500 freestyle (5:34.35).

The Mariners capped the meet with third- and fourth-place finishes in the 200 freestyle relay (1:39.38 and 1:41.70).

Maine Maritime returns to action Saturday at 6 p.m., visiting Husson University.
