CASTINE, Maine — Maine Maritime Academy erased a halftime deficit with a dominant second-half performance to earn a 64–52 North Atlantic Conference victory over Husson University on Friday night at Smith Gymnasium.
The Mariners, now 5–1 overall and 5–0 in the North Atlantic Conference, trailed 29–22 at the break before flipping the game after intermission. Maine Maritime outscored Husson 42–23 over the final two quarters, posting 21 points in both the third and fourth quarters to pull away from the Eagles, who fell to 4–2 overall and 3–1 in conference play.
Senior
Evelyn Dagan led the second-half comeback with a game-high 20 points on 7-of-12 shooting, knocking down four three-pointers. Dagan scored 11 of her points after halftime to help spark the Mariners' offensive turnaround.
Sophomore
Addison Forry recorded a strong all-around performance with 11 points and a team-high 11 rebounds, while junior
Hailey Blanchard added nine points, 10 rebounds, and five assists as Maine Maritime surged ahead in the second half. Senior
Sydney Loring chipped in eight points off the bench, including two three-pointers, as the Mariners' reserves contributed 14 points.
Maine Maritime controlled the glass throughout the second half, finishing with a 50–33 rebounding advantage, and used its pressure defense to force key turnovers during the comeback. The Mariners shot 45.8 percent from the field and held Husson to just 23 points after halftime.
Maine Maritime returns to action on Saturday hosting the University of Maine at Presque Isle in North Atlantic Conference play at Smith Gymnasium at 3 p.m.
