CASTINE, Maine — Maine Maritime Academy improved to 6-1 overall and 6-0 in North Atlantic Conference play with a dominant 98-24 victory on Saturday afternoon at Smith Gymnasium.
The Mariners set the tone early, opening the game on a 33-8 first quarter and never looking back. Maine Maritime forced 35 turnovers, converting them into 37 points, while also controlling the paint with 46 points inside and showcasing its depth with 62 bench points.
Senior
Sydney Loring led all scorers for Maine Maritime with 15 points on 6-of-7 shooting, adding three steals in just 13 minutes of action. Freshman
Aliyah Lambo chipped in 11 points, four assists and four steals, while senior
Evelyn Dagan finished with 10 points on a pair of three-pointers.
Junior
Hailey Blanchard orchestrated the offense with seven assists to go along with six points and five rebounds, and sophomore
Addison Forry contributed across the board with nine points, five rebounds, three steals and two assists. Senior
Jacquelin Castro added eight points and six rebounds, while sophomore
Morgan Clifford knocked down three triples for nine points off the bench.
Maine Maritime shot 55.1 percent from the floor (38-of-69) and connected on 10 three-pointers, while holding its opponent to just 21.4 percent shooting.
The Mariners will return to action on Friday, Dec. 20, when they face Widener University at the Daytona Beach Shootout. Tip-off is scheduled for 10 a.m.
