DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — The Maine Maritime Academy women's basketball team returned to action on Saturday battling Widener University to an 83-74 loss in non-conference action.
Maine Maritime (6-2) led 19-15 following the opening quarter, but Widener (9-1) outscored the Mariners 28-19 in the second quarter to take a 43-38 advantage into the break.
The Mariners came out of the game and cut into the five-point deficit trailing 59-57, however Widener benefitted from a 24-17 run to close out the game and pick up the 83-74 decision.

Evelyn Dagan paced the Mariners with a team-high 16 points, adding six rebounds, while senior
Jacquelin Castro tallied 12 points.

Grace Huntwork finished with 12 points and sophomore
Addison Forry also finished in double-digits with 11 points, posting a team-high seven rebounds and a game-high five assists.
The Mariners return to action on Sunday when they battle Worcester Polytechnic Institute at Noon in their final game of the Daytona Beach Shootout.
