WATERVILLE, Maine — Maine Maritime Academy men's swimming & diving freshman
Connor Hedstrom broke the program record in the 200-yard IM during the opening day of the Maine State Intercollegiate Championship on Friday, hosted by Colby College.

Fox Fernald and freshman Tim Reda, opened the meet with a 12th-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay, posting a time of 1:30.36.

B Boyer and senior James Creegan were Maine Maritime's top finishers in the 500-yard freestyle, recording times of 5:12.18 and 5:13.47, respectively. Freshman
Dominic Miele added MMA's top time in the 50-yard butterfly, touching in 25.75.
Reda led the Mariners in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 28.65, while Hedstrom highlighted the day with his record-breaking 200 IM performance, stopping the clock at 2:01.75.
Johnson Rees added a 15th-place finish in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 26.34, and Hedstrom placed 15th in the 50-yard freestyle in 21.88.
The Mariners wrapped up the session with a 13th-place finish in the mixed 400-yard medley relay, as Miele, freshman Hannah Hills, junior Claire MacDonald, and Boyer combined for a time of 4:08.13.
Maine Maritime returns to the pool Saturday for the final day of the Maine State Intercollegiate Championship.
