Jasmine Anderson scored a career-high 16 points on some lethal shooting, to propel the Maine Maritime Academy women's basketball team to an 88-56 thumping of UMaine-Fort Kent at Smith Gymnasium on Sunday. The Mariners end the regular season with a 21-4 overall record, while the visiting Bengals drop to 9-10.
Maine Maritime Highlights
- Briscoe made 6-of-7 field goal attempts while blocking two shots, dishing two assists and making two steals.
- Anderson was even better from the field draining 8-of-9 shots in just 17 minutes off the bench. She also had five rebounds and three assists.
- Seniors Makenzie Monzon (7 points, 5 rebounds) and Erianna Moore (10 rebounds) passed for a game-high six assists each.
- Sophomore Hailey Blanchard drained 15 points on five 3-pointers.
- Freshman Addison Forry chipped in 13 points, seven rebounds and two steals.
UMFK Highlights
- CeCe Bell led all scorers with 20 points and she led the Bengals with seven rebounds.
- Karolyn Baptiste (3 rebounds) added 18 points and led the team with four assists and two steals.
How it Happened
- UMFK held a brief 1-0 lead but MMA led for good after an Evelyn Dagan (9 points, 2 assists) 3ball 45 seconds after the opening tip.
- Maine Maritime led 21-13 at the end of the first quarter and put the game away by outscoring the Bengals in the second, 31-7, to go up 52-20 at the intermission.
- The Bengals were outrebounded 52-27 and held to a .359 field goal percentage (21-59).
Beyond the Boxscore
- Maine Maritime leads the all-time series 12-1, sweeping the season series after winning 70-59 in Fort Kent on Jan. 24.
- UMaine-Fort Kent is a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).
