Ella Bowes made 10 saves, to power host Maine Maritime Academy to an 11-7 victory over Suffolk University in non-conference women's lacrosse play at Ritchie Field on Sunday.
Maine Maritime has won three games in a row to up its record to 3-1 on the season, while Suffolk falls even to 2-2 overall.
Maine Maritime Highlights
- Senior Kirra Magana added five points on three goals and two assists. She also had game bests of five ground balls and eight draw controls.
- Freshman Caitlyn Lamb equaled Magana with a game-high five ground balls for a personal record.
- Stoddard also had four draw controls, four ground balls and two caused turnovers to tie in the latter category her sister freshman Hadley Stoddard, sophomore Abby Wong and Magana for the team lead.

- Ally Colburn led the Rams with four goals among five points.
- Charlotte Guziejka chipped in five ground balls to tie for the game lead.
- Eliza Bryant contributed two points (1g, 1a) and three draw controls.
How it Happened
- Maine Maritime raced to a 3-0 lead by 7 minutes and 19 seconds remaining on the scoreboard clock in the first quarter, and never trailed.
- Colburn put the visitors on the scoreboard at 2:20 to wrap up the scoring in the opening frame and scored another goal 24 seconds into the second to pull the Rams within 3-2.
- The Mariners responded with a 4-1 run--keyed by Hazel Stoddard and Magana with two goals each--that overlapped into the third quarter, when they built their largest lead of 7-3 at the 11:19 mark.
- Suffolk then scored three unanswered goals over a 5:22 span to cut the deficit to 7-6 with 4:17 left in the third.
- Maine Maritime, however, had an answer with a 3-0 run of its own to lead 10-6 early in the fourth. Hazel Stoddard scored twice and Magana had a man-down goal during that stretch.
- Colburn and Hazel Stoddard traded man-up tallies in the fourth to round out the scoring and 11-7 margin.
- The Mariners outshot the Rams 23-19 and also had the advantage in turnovers, 25-31.
