CASTINE--Recently, Maine Maritime Academy held the 24th annual Student Life Awards to recognize the outstanding contributions of students, staff and faculty who have made a positive impact on the campus and Castine communities during the 2024-25 academic year.
Maine Maritime Athletics congratulates all deserving honorees especially to our very own student-athletes and Athletics personnel:
Junior
Ella Bowes received the UCU Athletic Integration Award to recognize the positive contributions that intramural, club or varsity athletes make to the campus community. It is awarded to a student-athlete who has impacted campus life through leadership and collaboration with others. Bowes is a starting goalie for the women's lacrosse team and she also plays on the women's soccer backline.
Associate Athletics Director and Senior Woman Administrator Tricia Carver is the Advisor of the Year Award recipient. This honor recognizes a staff or faculty member who has gone above and beyond in their commitment to students through their role as a student organization or club advisor. This individual is highly dependable, possesses strong leadership skills, and has demonstrated an ability to help students grow through guidance and mentorship. Carver also is the winningest coach in volleyball program history with a 201-88 record, leading the Mariners to six North Atlantic Conference championships and six NCAA Tournament berths. She retired from coaching following the 2023 campaign to concentrate on her expanding administrative duties.
Senior golfer Brody Hathorne has been named with the Outstanding Contribution to Residential Life Award that is presented to a student who has made significant contributions to the experience of students living in the residence halls. The awardee, through their actions, leadership, and innovation, has promoted community through respect, fairness, and inclusion. Hathorne made the All-North Atlantic Conference Second Team last fall.
Lydia Lancina, a junior women's soccer player, was honored with the Outstanding Collaboration Award. This award recognizes an individual member of the student body who has collaborated with multiple constituencies. Lancina has led with integrity to unify the student body and make significant contributions to the greater campus community.
Brock Taylor, a junior for marksmanship shotgun, is the recipient of the Non-Traditional Student Impact Award which is given to a non-traditional student who has used their life experiences to make a significant impact in the campus community including, but not limited to, campus life, academic achievement, leadership and community service. Taylor has promoted and demonstrated excellence in all aspects of his college experience.
Isa Thesing is a standout sophomore women's soccer goalkeeper and wrestler who earned all-region accolades in the Mariners' first season of NCAA competition in the latter sport. She's also the Emerging Leader Award honoree who has emerged as a student leader, and who can be expected to continue to contribute to the campus community, and the welfare of their fellow students during the remainder of their time at the Academy.
Mackenzie Morin claimed the Student Government Leadership Award. This honor recognizes a student affiliated with the Student Government Association who has shown immense integrity and perseverance in striving to improve student life and welfare. She is a student assistant on the women's lacrosse coaching staff, helping the Mariners to their best season in school history with a 10-1 overall record and NAC Tournament No. 1 seed status.
Junior Meadow Hughes (Women's Swimming & Diving), senior Nicholas Paulu (Sailing), sophomore Taylor Webster (Women's Soccer), Bowes, Lancina and Morin also were honored for the Mariner Pride Award as part of the 12-member MMA After-Hours Shuttle Program. This award is a community-wide nomination that honors an organization, event, or activity that enhances Mariner Pride by bringing people together and helping to strengthen the campus community.
