Mariners Trounce Rival Husson to Capture NAC Title Outright on Senior Night

Lillian Diversi surpasses 100-career goals in the 24-13 conference victory

CASTINE--Senior Hazel Stoddard and sophomore Bella Scolaro led all scorers with 11 points apiece, and sophomore Lillian Diversi reached the 100-goal plateau in her collegiate career, to power the Maine Maritime Academy women's lacrosse team to a 24-13 victory over local rival Husson University to clinch the North Atlantic Conference title outright at Ritchie Field on Wednesday evening.

Maine Maritime (11-1) extended its school-record winning streak to 11 games and finished the NAC slate with a perfect 6-0 mark, while Husson falls to 6-7 overall and 4-2 in the conference.

Maine Maritime Highlights
  • Diversi recorded a game-high nine goals among 10 points.
  • Scolaro finished with four goals and seven assists, while Stoddard pumped in seven goals, four assists and seven draw controls.
  • Senior Kirra Magana registered game highs of five ground balls and nine draw controls.
  • Junior Ella Bowes collected nine saves to get credit for the win.

  • Maddy Benoit led the offense with four goals and five points, plus she had six draw controls.
  • Natalie Whitten had three goals among four points.
  • Averi Baker scored a pair of goals to go with six draw controls, two ground balls and two caused turnovers.

How it Happened
  • Maine Maritime spotted the visitors a 3-1 lead before going on a 5-1 run to close the first quarter with a 6-4 advantage. The home team would not relinquish the lead after that.
  • The Mariners doubled up the Eagles 8-4 in the second quarter to increase their lead to 14-8 at halftime.
  • Maine Maritime also had statistical advantages in shots (31-26), shots on goal (24-16), saves (9-6), turnovers (16-22) and free-position goals (5-for-6/2-for-6).

  • Husson leads the all-time series 9-6, but MMA sweeps the Eagles in the regular season for the first time since 2022.
