BIDDEFORD, Maine — The Maine Maritime Academy men's soccer team opened its 2025 season on the road Friday evening, battling both the weather and the University of New England to a 0-0 draw.
After a lightning delay pushed back the start, MMA (0-0-1) and UNE (0-0-1) played to a scoreless first half, with the Nor'Easter's holding a 4-1 edge in shots. The Mariners lone attempt was on goal but could not find the back of the net.
More severe weather delayed the start of the second half before the Mariners generated four shots over the final 45 minutes. UNE finished with eight shots in the half.

Kole Wayman anchored the Mariners in goal, Moynihan made one save in the first half, while Wayman added three more in the second to preserve the shutout.
Maine Maritime continues on the road Saturday with a 3:30 p.m. matchup against Plymouth State University in Plymouth, New Hampshire.
