CASTINE, Maine — Sophomore
Hadley Stoddard scored a career-high four goals to lead Maine Maritime Academy women's soccer to a 7-0 win over SUNY Cobleskill in its North Atlantic Conference opener on Saturday.
Maine Maritime (3-0) built a 3-0 halftime lead behind Stoddard's first-half hat trick. She struck first in the fifth minute with an unassisted goal, then added her second on a breakaway set up by junior
Abby Wong. Stoddard completed the hat trick on a long pass from senior
Delaney Ennis that slipped past the Cobleskill defense.
Wong opened the second-half scoring with her third goal of the year on a loose ball in the box. Senior
Mayako Brown followed with her first of the season in the 57th minute off a pass from Stoddard.
Junior
Lillyanna Ash added her first goal of the year on a feed from Wong, and Stoddard capped the Mariners' scoring with her fourth of the match on an assist from junior
Megan Dorr.
Maine Maritime held a 28-2 shot advantage and a 16-1 edge in shots on goal. Wong finished with eight shots, Brown added seven, and junior
Isa Thesing earned her third win of the season in net.
The Mariners host SUNY Delhi on Sunday at 1 p.m.
