COBLESKILL, N.Y. -- The Maine Maritime Academy men's basketball team battled hard Friday night but fell 73-53 to SUNY Cobleskill in North Atlantic Conference action at Iorio Gymnasium.
The Fighting Tigers (7-9, 6-4 NAC) took control in the first half, opening up a 41–23 advantage at the break, and maintained the margin throughout the second half.
Junior Jack Banks led Maine Maritime (6-11, 6-4 NAC) with 16 points on 7-of-12 shooting. Sophomore Marcus Schade finished with 10 points, and freshman Aaron Pensel added nine. The Mariners shot 40.4 percent from the field but were held to 2-of-18 shooting from three-point range and committed 16 turnovers.
Cobleskill shot 40.3 percent from the field and was led by Emilio Nabli's 16 points. The Fighting Tigers held a 47-31 rebounding edge and used balanced scoring to secure the conference victory.
Maine Maritime returns to action on Saturday, January 17, when they travel to Delhi, N.Y., to square off against the Broncos at 1:00 p.m.
