CASTINE, Maine — The Maine Maritime Academy women's wrestling team hosted the University of Bridgeport on Friday falling 19-15 in dual action.
Sophomore
Bethany Ives began the Mariners scoring on Friday picking up a win by forfeit at 124, while sophomore
Kylie Coxon wrestled 131 loosing by tech fall.
Freshman
Mary Smith competed for MMA at 145, dropping a hard fought second-period decision by fall, while
Daniela Myers also wrestled at 145 as an individual falling in the first round by pin.
Junior
Isa Thesing impressed for the Mariners at 160, after trailing in the opening period, Thesing fought back and picked up a second-period win by pin.
Freshman Kelly Malcom wrestled at 180 for MMA falling by pin and sophomore
Courtney Clifton recorded a win by forfeit at 207 to give the Mariners 15 points on the night.
Next up for the Mariners is the McDaniel College Quad on Jan 24 against Felician University, McDaniel College and Kean University in Westminster, Md.
