Men’s swimming & diving competes at SJC

STANDISH, Maine — The Maine Maritime Academy men's swimming & diving team delivered a dominant performance Saturday, piling up victories across the pool in a convincing dual-meet win over Saint Joseph's College of Maine.

The Mariners opened the meet by sweeping the top three spots in the 200-yard medley relay, led by the team of sophomore Cameron Hedstrom, freshman Matthew Levesque, freshman B. Boyer and senior James Creegan, which touched first in 1:46.15. Maine Maritime followed with strong depth performances throughout the freestyle and stroke events, controlling the meet from start to finish.

Levesque highlighted the individual events by winning the 200-yard freestyle in 1:55.38, while Creegan captured the 100 freestyle with a time of 53.29. Freshman Connor Hedstrom added a victory in the 50 freestyle (22.16) and later closed out an impressive day by winning the 400 individual medley in 4:50.21.

The Mariners also swept the top spots in several stroke races. Freshman Tim Reda claimed wins in both the 50-yard breaststroke (29.98) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:25.03), while freshman Dominic Miele took first in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:08.88. Boyer added a win in the 200 butterfly (2:20.22), and Cam Hedstrom topped the field in the 50 butterfly (27.04).

Maine Maritime's depth proved decisive, as the Mariners placed multiple swimmers in scoring positions in nearly every event and finished the meet with 181 team points to secure the overall men's victory.

Maine Maritime is back in action on Saturday when it hosts Husson University at noon in Bok Pool.
