Men’s Swimming & Diving Shows Depth at Bates Relay Meet

LEWISTON, Maine — The Maine Maritime Academy men's swimming & diving team turned in a full slate of competitive relay performances Friday night at the Bates College Relay Meet, highlighted by multiple top-three finishes and strong depth across all strokes.

The Mariners opened the meet with a solid showing in the 200-yard medley relay, as the "A" squad of freshman Connor Hedstrom, senior Aidan Burke, freshman Dominic Miele and senior Oliver Cox placed third with a time of 1:43.68, while the "B" relay followed closely behind in 1:46.84. Maine Maritime also earned a podium finish in the 200-yard backstroke relay, taking third as Miele, Connor Hedstrom, freshman Ryan Johnson Rees and freshman Matthew Levesque combined for a 1:47.61 effort.

In the breaststroke relays, the Mariners continued to score well, with the "A" team finishing second in 2:02.04 behind a strong performance from Burke, freshman Tim Reda, Connor Hedstrom and freshman Jack Davis. Maine Maritime added depth with two additional relay teams finishing third and fourth in the same event.

The Mariners also posted multiple top-four finishes in the underwater freestyle relay, butterfly relay and freestyle relay events, consistently placing teams in the upper half of the field. The night concluded with a third-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay, as Reda, Johnson Rees, Miele and Burke touched in 4:04.88, capping off a balanced team performance.

Maine Maritime returns to action on Feb. 12 at the Little East Conference Championship.
