WELLESLEY, Mass. — The Maine Maritime Academy men's swimming & diving team turned in a strong final session Sunday at the 2026 Little East Championships, highlighted by a distance victory and multiple podium finishes and finished second overall over the four-day meet.
Freshman
B Boyer led the way for the Mariners, capturing the 1,650-yard freestyle in 17 minutes, 12.40 seconds. Senior James Creegan added a runner-up finish in the same event, touching in 18:05.47 as Maine Maritime went 1-2 in the mile.
Connor Hedstrom placed second in the 100 freestyle posting a time of 47.27 seconds. In the 200 breaststroke, Freshman
Timmy Reda finished second in 2:11.20, while senior
Aidan Burke was fourth in 2:16.54.
Maine Maritime also saw strong showings in the 50 backstroke, where freshman
Ryan Johnson Rees took fourth in 25.80 and senior
Fox Fernald was seventh in 27.89.
In the 200 butterfly consolation final, sophomore
Nate Gibbons placed 10th overall with a time of 2:12.63.
The Mariners capped the night with several scoring efforts in the 100 IM, led by freshman
Dominic Miele's sixth-place finish (57.66). Senior
Oliver Cox was ninth (59.85), followed by sophomore Cam Hedstrom (11th, 1:02.86), sophomore
Luis Guillen Barcia (12th, 1:03.04) and freshman
Henry Keepes (13th, 1:04.54).
Maine Maritime returns to the pool on Saturday when it hosts the MMA Last Chance at 1 p.m.
