Scolaro, Bowes headline NAC women’s lacrosse all-conference team, six players selected

WATERVILLE, Maine — The North Atlantic Conference announced its women's lacrosse all-conference awards on Thursday and Maine Maritime Academy had six players earn postseason recognition.

Junior Bella Scolaro headlined the Mariners all-conference awards earning player of the year and all-conference attack honors. Scolaro led the Mariners with 39 assists and 63 points. Scolaro also led the conference with 3.46 assists per game and 5.54 points per game, while finishing sixth with 2.08 goals per game. Additionally, Scolaro tallied 24 goals on only 47 shot attempts, 14 ground balls, nine caused turnovers and 10 draw controls. In conference play, Scolaro racked up a league-best 7.14 points per game, almost two points higher than second place and led the NAC with 4.57 assists per game. Scolaro was also named NAC player of the week three times.

Senior Ella Bowes also headlined MMA's postseason selections taking home defensive player of the year and all-conference goalkeeper recognition, ranking second in the nation with a .536 save percentage and earn NAC defensive player of the week twice. Bowes finished 8-4 on the year with a 5-1 record in conference, tallying 97 saves and a 7.68 goals against average.

Junior Lillian Diversi earned all-conference attack honors after leading the team with 32 goals and finishing second with 20 assists. Diversi tallied 27 ground balls, eight caused turnovers and three draw controls and finished with a team-best .852 shot on goal percentage, scoring 32 goals on 61 shot attempts. Diversi finished fourth in the NAC with 2.62 goals per game, third with 1.85 assists and third with 4.46 points. In conference only matchups, Diversi finished second with 2.86 goals per game, second with 2.43 assists and second with 5.29 points.

Junior Julia Wade took home all-conference midfield honors after earning NAC defensive player of the week twice and finishing second on the team with 26 goals and third with nine assists. Wade posted 25 ground balls, 22 caused turnovers and 27 draw controls. Wade led the NAC with 3.50 goals per game in conference matchups and finished fourth with 4.50 points per game and third in the league with 3.67 draw controls per game.

Junior Abby Wong was named to the all-conference defense as an impact defender for the Mariners finishing the season with one assist, 27 ground balls, 10 caused turnovers and two draw controls. Wong played an important role in the Mariners finishing with a .662 clear percentage.

Additionally, freshman Hayden Meffert was named to the sportsmanship team.
