WATERVILLE, Maine — The Maine Maritime Academy women's soccer team picked up a non-conference midweek 3-0 road win over Thomas College on Wednesday backed by a two-goal effort from senior
Bella Scolaro.
Following nine shots in the opening half and forcing Thomas to make four saves in the opening 45 minutes, Maine Maritime came out of the halftime break and wasted little time getting on the board.
The Mariners earned a penalty kick off a Thomas foul in the box just over three minutes into the half and Scolaro connected on the first of her two goals.
A little over 30 minutes later, the Terriers would commit another foul inside the box and Scolaro would power in her second goal to give MMA a 2-0 advantage.
However, the scoring didn't stop there, under a minute later junior
Hadley Stoddard powered in another Mariners score to run the advantage to 3-0 and give MMA the win on the road.
With the win, senior
Isa Thesing surpassed Lacey Jackson for the most career shutouts in program history, finishing the night with three saves.
Overall, Maine Maritime racked up 24 shots and 12 shots on frame for the match, limiting Thomas to just seven shots and three shots on target.
The Mariners return to action on Saturday when they host Vermont State University Johnson at 6 p.m. for homecoming.
