BOURNE, Mass. — The Maine Maritime Academy football team fell to Massachusetts Maritime Academy, 49-0, in its 2026 season opener Saturday afternoon at Clean Harbors Stadium.
The Mariners were held to 111 yards of total offense, including 79 rushing yards and 32 passing yards. Maine Maritime recorded seven first downs and converted 2 of 9 third-down opportunities.
Junior
Auston Harris led the Mariners on the ground, carrying 18 times for 84 yards, averaging 4.7 yards per carry with a long of 13 yards. Harris also added two receptions for two yards.
Sophomore quarterback Harris Stone completed 7 of 19 passes for 32 yards while also rushing four times for minus-5 yards. Senior
Ty Regis led Maine Maritime with two receptions for 14 yards, while freshman Evan Flowers caught two passes for 11 yards. Sophomore
Eli Bennett added one reception for five yards.
Flowers provided a spark in the return game, totaling 111 yards on five kickoff returns, including a 35-yard return, while adding an 11-yard punt return.
Defensively, junior
Lucas Houghton led the Mariners with 10 total tackles, including six solo stops and four assists. Junior
Matt Gagin and sophomore
Liam Sullivan each finished with nine tackles, while junior
James Boyer-Russell recorded eight tackles and a team-high 1.5 tackles for loss along with a sack.
The Mariners will get a week off before traveling to face Vermont State University Castleton on Sept. 19 with kickoff set for noon.
