What made you come to Maine Maritime Academy?: A desire to do something different versus just going to a state school. The small campus and high job placement was a big draw as well.
What first got you interested in your sport?: My mom signed me up for a cross country camp with my friends in sixth grade and I've stuck with it since.
What has been your favorite class at MMA?: Anything with Captain Slazas. Can't get enough of his sea stories and dry sense of humor.
What is the best advice your coach has given you?: "Whatever you do, don't listen to Juicebox."
What motivates you to succeed?: A fear of failure.
What is your prized possession?: My running shorts.
What is your favorite book? (Non-academic): A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson
What is something that people would be surprised to learn about you?: I wish I was better at soccer.
What are your hopes for the future?: Survive the next two years and get a job.
What is your favorite spot in Castine/on Campus? Why?: Witherle Woods is a great place for running when I want to escape the monotony of the roads.
What advice do you have for incoming freshman?: Time management is essential, because there will be weeks where it feels like you have a test in every class.
What is your greatest challenge?: In regards to running, pushing myself outside of my comfort level. Nothing worse than finishing a race feeling like you could have given more.
What are three things you have with you at all times?: Water bottle, phone and wallet.
