Hometown: Bangor, Maine

Major: Power Engineering Technology

Anticipated Graduation Year: 2019

What made you come to Maine Maritime Academy? I really enjoy the comfort that Maine Maritime will always take care of me. Maine Maritime has so many contacts that you are almost guaranteed a job after graduation. I also enjoy the small classroom size, and how willing teachers are to make sure you succeed. Being able to golf was also a big plus.

What first got you interested in your sport? My dad was a big golfer and always took me to the course as a kid. It was more of a hobby growing up until it became my passion in high school.

What has been your favorite class at MMA? My favorite class has been Power Equipment Lab. It was the most hands on class and also directly connected to what I need to know to be a successful engineer.

What is the best advice your coach has given you? The best advice my coach has given me is to only worry about the things you can control, your effort and your attitude. Not just in sports but also in life there are so many things that are out of your control, but you will always come out with the best outcome in whatever it is if you have a great attitude and give your best effort.

What motivates you to succeed? My family. They have done so much for me and presented me with so many opportunities. I am truly blessed. I am always happy to make them proud.

What is your prized possession? My prized possession is my hole-in-one golf ball.

What is your favorite book? (Non-academic) My favorite book would have to be Q-School. There are so many great stories in the book about how golfers become pros and play in the PGA.

What is something that people would be surprised to learn about you? That I am adopted!

What are your hopes for the future? My hopes for the future are to be a successful engineer, and always keep my passion for golf.

What is your favorite spot in Castine/on Campus? Why? My favorite spot in Castine is the Backshore. Nothing beats being on the beach watching the sunset with friends after a long day.

What has been your favorite moment so far while playing at MMA? My favorite moment has been having tournaments at the course I grew up on in Bangor. I thought my memories on the course were over after high school. It has been a joy being able to play collegiate golf at the place where I found my passion.

What are three things you have with you at all times? My phone, my keys and my wallet.

Which teammate has had the biggest impact on you? Why? Karson Eaton has had the biggest impact on me. He was my first friend on the golf team. He always knows how to keep it relaxed on the golf course and to not get frustrated. This is important to me because I have a limited number of collegiate rounds and he helped me realize why spend them frustrated when you can enjoy playing the sport you love.
