Anticipated Graduation Year: 2022
Â
Why did you choose to attend Maine Maritime, being all the way from Virginia? I chose to attend MMA due to the small class sizes and opportunity to get out on the water. When looking at colleges I wanted to have a close relationship with my classmates and professors, something that Maine Maritime fosters very well.Â
Why did you choose Oceanography for a major? I have always been interested in ocean science and this major had a broad look at physical, chemical, and geological oceanography. I hope to continue studying ocean science with a graduates degree.Â
What first got you interested in sailing? I learned to sail in elementary school, growing up in Virginia Beach I spent a lot of time on the water and at the beach. I am very grateful that I am still able to get out on the water after every school day.Â
Tell us about something outside of Mariners Athletics that you are really interested in or tell us about something that people would be surprised to learn about you? People may be surprised to learn that I have an identical twin brother.Â
Who on campus has made the biggest impact on you? Coach? Teammate? Professor? Friend? I have been most impacted by Abby L'Abbe, a 2020 grad who taught me a lot about who I wanted to be after I graduate. Her strength and work ethic continue to inspire me.Â
What will you miss most about Maine Maritime? I will miss watching the sunsets on the water with my team mates at the end of practice.
Tell us about a summer experience related to Maine Maritime. As part of the ROTC unit I shadowed an Ensign on board the USS Bainbridge for two weeks this past summer.Â
What is your favorite book? Starship troopers by Robert A Heinlein
