CASTINE, MAINE-- Maine Maritime Academy built a 3-0 first half lead en route to a 5-0 win over Green Mountain in a North Atlantic Conference game Saturday at Ritchie Field. The Mariners won their third straight game and improved to 5-1NAC, 8-5 overall. The Eagles fell to 3-8.

David Clough (Mt.Vernon, Maine) began the scoring onslaught with a header in the first half to give MMA a 1-0 lead. Abdullah Alkhayyat (Jeddah, Saudi Arabia) made it 2-0 almost three minutes later when he stole the ball and netted a shot to the left at 7:56. Clough struck again late in the first half when he one-timed a rebound ball to give MMA a 3-0 halftime lead.

Nicholas George (Bangor, Maine) found the back of the net, off of a pass from Alkhayyat, at the 47:16 mark before David Lord (Kenduskeag, Maine) bombed a shot from the 48-yard line to put the Mariners ahead 5-0 at 49:21.

William Trace Lacour (Charlottesvile, Va.) earned the win in goal and Jesse Perkins (Bangor, Maine) picked up a save in relief.

The Mariners return to action Sunday at home against Castleton at 2 p.m.
