CASTINE, Maine – Despite showering the Spartan net with 22 shots, the Mariners fell to Castleton on Saturday, 1-0.

The Mariners found themselves down early in the ninth minute when Owen Fellows put Castleton on the board, 1-0. 

Maine Maritime produced a number of scoring chances, including 17 shots in the second half alone but could not get past Spartan keeper Amir Pasic who ended the game with seven saves.

The Mariners recorded six shots and two corner kicks in seven minutes to open up the second half but could not get the ball through traffic in front of the net. 

Jonathan Reeks (Bedford, N.H.) led the Mariners with three shots on goal. Mariner keeper Marshall Spear (Rockport, Maine) recorded two saves in the loss.

The Mariners fall to 7-7-1 on the season and 4-3-1 on the North Atlantic Conference. Maine Maritime will host Green Mountain College tomorrow in their final game of the regular season. The team's five seniors will be honored prior to the game.
