Box Score CASTINE, Maine -- Maine Maritime Academy women's lacrosse fell to North Atlantic Conference opponent Maine-Farmington on Tuesday afternoon, 16-6 on Ritchie Field.
Maine-Farmington jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead before Rachael Redles (Coopersburg, Pa.) put the Mariners on the board at 23:27 remaining in the first half. The Beavers outscored the Mariners 8-3 to take a 13-4 lead into halftime, Ally Fuehrer (Freeport, Maine) secured a hat trick for the Mariners with three-straight scores for the hosts.
The Mariners held the Beavers to just three scores in the second half as Fuehrer picked up two more goals for Maine Maritime.
Fuehrer tallied five goals for the second-straight game, adding a pair of ground balls and three draw controls. Redles paired her 16th goal of the season with three assists.
Ayla Allen grabbed five goals and an assist to lead Maine-Farmington's attack, Jaclyn Langevin added four goals, Maddie Kadnar, Carly Raymond and Mara Balboni added two goals each and Sierra Gilley added a goal and an assist. Rhi Jackson led all players with four caused turnovers, and five draw controls.
Ashlee Knight (Anson, Maine) stopped eight shots in net for the Mariners, scooping up five ground balls, while UMF keeper Patty Smith stopped three shots in the victory.
Maine Maritime falls to 2-9 overall and 2-5 in the conference, while the Beavers improve to 4-6 on the year and 3-3 in the conference.
The Mariners travel to New England College for their regular season finale at 1:00 p.m. in Henniker, N.H.
