HENNIKER, N.H. – Maine Maritime Academy women's lacrosse fell to New England College 17-6, in North Atlantic Conference action Saturday.

New England College scored four goals in the opening three minutes of play, including three from Elizabeth Bois. Rachael Redles (Coopersburg, Pa.) put the Mariners on the board with her seventeenth goal of the season at 23:11.

The Pilgrims responded with seven-straight goals, including three by Jacquelyn Lane, before Ally Fuehrer (Freeport, Maine) grabbed a man-up goal with just 29 seconds left to send the Mariners into halftime down 11-2.

The Mariners opened up the scoring in the second half before the Pilgrims net the next four goals to extend their lead to 15-3. The Mariners went on to outscore the Pilgrims 3-2 but the early deficit proved to be too much to overcome, and NEC picked up the 17-6 victory. 

Briana Obshatkin (Dedham, Mass.) led the Mariners with two goals, Fuehrer and Lillian Slazas (Stockton Springs, Maine) each added a goal and an assist. Taylor O'Malley (Middletown, R.I.) added a score, while recording a team-high four draw controls. Obshatkin and Tori Cooper (Saco, Maine) scooped up four ground balls each, and Mackenzie Vosburgh (Rhineback, N.Y.) led the Mariners with two caused turnovers.

Gabriella Bigos and Jacquelyn Lane led the Pilgrims with four goals and an assist, each.  NEC's Allison Granata scored three goals and had an assist, while Kasondra Moniz scored two goals and had two assists.

Ashlee Knight (Anson, Maine) notched eight saves on the afternoon, in net for the Mariners, while Mackenzie Meegan finished the game with 12 saves for the Pilgrims. 

With the win the Pilgrims improve to 4-12 on the season and 3-5 in NAC play. The loss drops the Mariners to 2-10 overall and 2-6 in the NAC.
