GORHAM, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy women's lacrosse fell to Southern Maine 22-6, on Thursday afternoon at Hannaford Field in non-conference action.

The Mariners found themselves down 14-1 heading into the intermission, as the Huskies scored four quick goals before Rachael Redles (Coopersburg, Pa.) put the Mariners on the board on an unassisted strike with 21:18 remaining in the first half.

Redles started the scoring for the Mariners in the second half, followed by a free position goal from Briana Obshatkin (Dedham, Mass.) to make it 16-3 with 21:57 remaining in the game. The Huskies scored three-straight to push their lead to 19-3, before Redles grabbed her third goal of the game at 9:48. Taylor O'Malley (Middletown, R.I.) found the back of the next twice in the closing two minutes of the game.

Patricia Dunford (Walkersville, Md.) scooped up a team-best three ground balls, while Ally Fuehrer (Freeport, Maine) led the team with four draw controls and an assist, and Ashlee Knight (Anson, Maine) stopped 10 shots in net for the Mariners.

Nicole Laplante and Sarah Pelligrinelli grabbed four goals each for the Huskies, while Anh Nguyen added a hat trick and a game-high four assists. Lauren Lessard, Heather Everett, and Nguyen scooped up four ground balls apiece, while Everett chipped in with a game-best four caused turnovers. Casey Presby picked up the win in net for the Huskies with just one goal allowed in the first 30 minutes while, Nia Kelley concluded the game in net for the hosts, stopping one shot while allowing five goals.

Maine Maritime falls to 1-6 overall, while Southern Maine improves to 2-7 on the season. The Mariners return to action on Tuesday, April 7, when they host NAC rival, Husson University at 4:30 p.m.
