Saturday's Game: Maine Maritime Academy (5-5, 2-2 NAC) vs. Husson University (6-3, 4-0 NAC), 1:00 p.m., Smith Gymnasium, Castine, Maine.

Series History: The Mariners hold a 14-14 all-time record over the Eagles, in a rivalry that dates back to 2003. The Eagles have won four-straight against the Mariners, but before that the Mariners had won four-straight.

When playing at home, the Mariners are 7-6.

Last Meeting: Maine Maritime Academy women's basketball fell to Husson University on December 5, 72-60 in North Atlantic Conference action.

A Mackenzie Vosburgh (Rhineback, N.Y.) three closed the Eagles' lead to 14-7 with 4:55 remaining in the first quarter, sparking a 4-2 Maine Maritime run, but Husson took a 18-11 lead into the second quarter.

The Mariners put together a 10-5 run in the second quarter to close Husson's lead to 25-21, forcing the hosts to call a timeout. The Eagles came out with eight-straight points, before the Mariners could find their offensive rhythm, and Husson took a 35-25 lead into the intermission.

Kristi Willey (Topsham, Maine) and Alayne Felix (Mahopac, N.Y.) led the Mariners in the first two quarters with six points each, while Willey led all players in the first half with five boards.

The Mariners opened up the third quarter with a 7-0 run, highlighted by a three from Mikayla Charters (Newport, Maine) to close the gap to 35-32, but the Eagles answered with seven-straight points to make it 42-32.

With a little over a minute remaining in the third quarter, Tess Clark (Spring, Texas) made a jump shot to bring the Mariners within seven, but the Eagles took a 53-43 lead into the final quarter.

A Felix jumper closed Husson's lead to seven with 2:36 remaining in the game, but the Mariners could not come back from the deficit.

Felix led the Mariners with 18 points, and a game-high seven rebounds, while Charters added 13 points.

Rebecca Young led the Eagles with 18 points and four rebounds, while Kenzie Worcester added 13 points and four rebounds and Victoria McIntyre and Darla Morales each contributed 11 points.

Maine Maritime Academy's Last Game: Maine Maritime Academy women's basketball fell to Manhattanville College on Tuesday afternoon, 59-53, in non-conference action inside of Kennedy Gym.

Maine Maritime jumped out to an early 7-0 lead, highlighted by five points from Alayne Felix, but Manhattanville fought back to tie it at 10 points apiece at the end of the first quarter.

The Mariners put together a 15-2 run to take an 11-point lead with 5:27 left in the second quarter. The Valiants clawed their way back once again, sending the Mariners into the intermission with a narrow 27-26 advantage.

The teams fought back-and-forth in the third quarter, and entered the final 10 minutes of play deadlocked at 45-45.

Maine Maritime turned the ball over 11 times in the fourth quarter, but remained within striking distance until Candice Scott-Mason pulled down a defensive rebound on a Mariners' missed free throw and the Valiants added four points in the final 26 seconds to claim the 59-53 victory.

Felix led the Mariners with 17 points, seven rebounds, an assist and a block, Kristi Willey added eight points, four rebounds and an assist, and Mackenzie Vosburgh added seven points, two rebounds and two assists.

Husson University's Last Game: The Eagles picked up a 65-64 win over University of Southern Maine in non-conference action on Wednesday night.

USM jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the first few minutes of the first quarter, but a 14-0 run by Husson put The Eagles up by eight at the end of the quarter. The Eagles and the Huskies went back and forth in the second quarter as Husson led 26-24 going into intermission.

The Huskies came out to start the third quarter on a 10-7 run which gave them their first lead since the game started. Husson took the lead with a 4-0 run with 2:23 left in the third quarter. Kenzie Worcester nailed a go ahead three to lead the eagles 42-41 at the end of the third quarter.

Husson and USM could not get more than a three-point lead in the final ten minutes of play. Southern Maine's Ella Ramonas put the Huskies up by one with six seconds remaining in the game. Junior guard Guerrette answered back with a layup to give The Eagles a 65-64 victory with 1.7 seconds left.

Worcester scored 16 points, added five rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Guerrette finished with 15 points and Victoria McIntyre added a game high seven rebounds for an impressive defensive display by the Eagles.

The Mariners: Maine Maritime averages 57.1 points, 38.1 rebounds and 13.6 assists per game, while shooting 38.3 percent from the field. The Mariners are allowing opponents to score an average of 53.5 points per game.

Freshman Alayne Felix leads the team with 17.8 points per game and eight rebounds per game, while Megan McLean (Eliot, Maine) leads the team with an average of 2.4 assists and 1.4 steals per game.

The Eagles: Husson averages 66.6 points, 31.2 rebounds and 11.7 assists per game, while shooting 39 percent from the field. The Eagles are letting opponents score an average of 62.7 points per game.

Kenzie Worcester leads the team with an average of 13.4 points per game and 2.6 assists per game, Victoria McIntyre leads the team with 6.4 rebounds per game, and Chandler Guerrette leads the team with an average of 2.9 assists per game.

NAC Leaders: Alayne Felix leads the North Atlantic Conference in points per game (17.8) and field goal percentage (54.6%). Husson's Kenzie Worcester leads the NAC in three-point percentage (45.8%).

Regional Award Sweep: Following her recording breaking performance in the Mariners' victory over John Jay on Sunday, Alayne Felix was named the North Atlantic Conference Player and Rookie of the Week, the New England Women's Basketball Association Rookie of the Week, the Eastern College Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week and the Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association Rookie of the Week.
