KINGS POINT, N.Y.—Maine Maritime Academy women's lacrosse fell to the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Sunday afternoon, 16-0.

Merchant Marine jumped out to a 12-0 lead in the first half and added four additional goals in the second half to take the 16-0 victory.

Maine Maritime's Sierra James (Campton, N.H.) tallied eight saves in net, while Morgan Maxwell (Windham, Maine) led the team with a game-high four caused turnovers and Haley Eckert (Harrington, Maine), Mackenzie Vosburgh (Rhinebeck, N.Y.) and James each scooped up three ground balls.

Marua Malone led Merchant Marine with five goals, while Meredith Willard added three goals and Elizabeth Livi dished out four assists. Jessica Reilly scooped up a game-high five ground balls and both Reilly and Hannah Gizzi caused turnovers. Gizzi tallied a save in net.

Maine Maritime falls to 0-4 on the season, while Merchant Marine improves to 2-0. Maine Maritime returns to action on Saturday, March 26 when they host Green Mountain College in their North Atlantic Conference and home opener at 3:30 pm.
