MANCHESTER, Vt. – Maine Maritime Academy women's lacrosse defeated Green Mountain College 14-1 on Saturday afternoon in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action, at Burr and Burton Academy.

Haley Eckert (Harrington, Maine) and Tori Cooper (Saco, Maine) scored twice in the first half to lead Maine Maritime to a 5-0 lead at halftime. The Mariners picked up where they left off in the second half, cruising to the 14-1 win.

Cooper led the Mariners with three goals and four assists, breaking the Maine Maritime single-game record for most points scored. Cooper also chipped in with three draw controls, two ground balls, and a caused turnover. Eckert scored a career-high four goals, scooped up three ground balls and caused a turnover, while Leah Libby added three goals and five ground balls, and teammate Shelby O'Neil (Bar Harbor, Maine) contributed two goals, four draw controls, a ground ball, and a caused turnover.

Bethany Pare (Saco, Maine) tallied her first-career goal and Madison Barry (Stoneham, Mass.) rounded out the scoring for the Mariners with her seventh goal of the season. Sierra James (Campton, N.H.) earned her fourth victory of the season in net, stopping five shots.

Green Mountain's Sophya Fuccione scored late in the game on a free position shot, to prevent the shutout and teammate Rachel Aramburu led the team with four draw controls. In net, Chelsea Wimble recorded 12 save in the loss, while leading the Eagles with five ground balls.

The Mariners improve to 4-2 on the season and 2-1 in the NAC, while the Eagles fall to 0-6 overall and 0-3 in the conference. Maine Maritime returns to action tomorrow, Sunday, April 9, against Johnson State College at 4:00 p.m. at Saint Michael's College.
