Box Score LYNDONVILLE, Vt. – Maine Maritime women's lacrosse beat NVU-Lyndon, 19-2 on Saturday afternoon in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) matchup.
How it Happened: Hazel Stoddard (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) set the tone early for the Mariners, scoring four consecutive goals. Olivia Harriman (Orrington, Maine) then scored off a free position shot and Lily Cook (Southwest Harbor, Maine) found the back of the net to make the score 6-0. The Hornets scored on an unassisted goal before Amber Card (Bowdoin, Maine) ended the first quarter with a goal off a pass from Cook to make the score 7-1 going into the second. The Mariners dominated the second quarter, scoring seven unanswered goals . Emma White (New Sharon, Maine), Olivia Fay (New Braintree, Mass.), and Cook scored one goal each, while Stoddard added four more to put the Mariners up by 13 at halftime.
Stoddard started off the second half with her last goal of the day before the Hornets scored a man-up goal. The Mariners scored four more times, with Beth Labbe (Brunswick, Maine), Aubrey Mitchell (Spofford, N.H.), Darby Cendoma (Livonia, N.Y.), and Kirra Magaña (Miami, Fla.) all scoring one goal each to end the game with a score of 19-2.
Inside the Numbers: Stoddard led the Mariners with nine goals and two assists, setting a program record for points in a single game with 11. She also tallied six draw controls, two ground balls, and two caused turnovers. Cook added two goals and one assist, while eight others all chipped in one goal each. Labbe recorded a team-high four caused turnovers, while Mitchell, White, and Olivia Alejandro (Houston, Texas) all chipped in three caused turnovers.
Alyssa Fryman and Isabel Bourgeois recorded one goal each to led the Hornets. Fryman also had game-highs of five ground balls and five caused turnovers. Nyah Garner and Faith Poirier each caused four turnovers.
Charlotte Rose (Newark, Del.) spend all 60 minutes in net for the Mariners, tallying three saves, while Paige Daley recorded seven in net for the Hornets.
The Mariners held a 36-9 advantage in shots and the Hornets held a 9-8 advantage in ground balls.
