Mariners Race at Maine Collegiate Invite

WATERVILLE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy women's swimming and diving competed at the Maine Collegiate Invite on Friday and Saturday, finishing eighth of eight teams in the 45-event meet. 

Day One Highlights
  • Relay Team of Liza Zhukov (Barrington, R.I.), Natasha Kopeck (Manchester Center, Vt.), Ava Snyder (Chicago, Ill.), and Rayelle Brewer (Cheyenne, Wyo.) placed 12th in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:48.30
  • Brewer finished 28th in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 28.58, while Claire MacDonald (Southampton, N.Y.) placed 30th with a time of 29.04
  • McKenzie Murray (Orrington, Maine) finished 23rd in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 41.89
  • Zhukov finished 13th in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 29.63
Day Two Highlights
  • Relay team of Zhukov, Snyder, MacDonald, and Brewer placed 12th in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:02.41
  • Milo Cook-Sharp (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) finished 26th in the 400-yard IM with a time of 5:23.60, while Kylie Cantlon (Burke, Va.) finished 27th with a time of 5:31.74
  • Snyder finished 24th in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:23.33
  • Cantlon finished 18th in the 1650-yard free with a time of 21:03.24, Cook-Sharp finished 19th with a time of 21:07.80, and Eva Schulz finished 20th with a time of 21:51.49
  • Zhukov finished 28th in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:29.05
  • Murray placed 21st in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 3:27.09
  • MacDonald finished 20th in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:38.44, while Cook-Sharp finished 21st with a time of 2:38.65
  • Relay team of Kopeck, Zhukov, MacDonald, and Brewer finished 13th in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 4:05.10, while relay team of Cook-Sharp, Cantlon, Schulz, and Snyder finished 15th with a time of 4:22.79
Up Next: The Mariners return to action on Saturday, January 13, when they travel to Biddeford, Maine to compete against the University of New England at 12:00pm.
