WELLESLEY, Mass. — Maine Maritime Academy women's swimming and diving turned in a strong slate of performances Saturday evening at the Little East Championships, highlighted by multiple championship-final appearances and key team points.
The Mariners' 800-yard freestyle relay team closed the night with a seventh-place finish, touching the wall in 8:45.39 to cap the finals session.
The relay effort added valuable points as Maine Maritime continued to climb in the team standings.
In the 200-yard freestyle, senior
Rayelle Brewer delivered a fifth-place finish in the championship final, clocking a 2:04.87.
Freshman
Avery Fraga added an eighth-place showing in 2:11.25, while freshman
Marin Griffin secured additional points with a 10th-place finish (2:12.09) in the consolation final.
The Mariners also earned a championship-final swim in the 50-yard butterfly, where junior
Claire MacDonald placed seventh overall with a time of 28.55.
In the grueling 400-yard individual medley, senior
Kylie Cantlon posted an eighth-place finish in the championship heat (5:35.07). Sophomore
Natalie Cady followed with a 10th-place result in the consolation final at 5:31.13.
Freshman
Emily Metzker contributed points in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing 16th overall in 1:11.62, while sophomore
Kate Griffin added a 16th-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:19.92.
The 200-yard medley relay team opened the evening with a 10th-place finish in 2:04.23.
In the one-meter diving event earlier in the day, sophomore
Abigail Cormier posted a 262.30 to finish seventh overall.
Through 36 events, Maine Maritime sits eighth in the team standings with 211 points as the championship meet continues on Sunday for the final day of competition.
