Sydney Briscoe (Englewood, N.J./Immaculate Conception Montclair High School) has been named the final Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association Player of the Week for 2024. Briscoe gives the Mariners back-to-back honorees as senior guard
Erianna Moore was selected the MWBCA Co-Player of the Week seven days ago.
Briscoe also is on the New England Women's Basketball Association Honor Roll for Dec. 17, 2024.
Despite battling foul trouble,
Briscoe still scored a team-high 18 points and grabbed a game-best nine rebounds in a 71-63 regional win over in-state foe Saint Joseph's College of Maine in the fall semester finale. She made 7-of-10 field goal attempts while adding three steals, an assist and a blocked shot.
On the season, Briscoe surpassed 600 career rebounds (619) recently. She lists fourth in the North Atlantic Conference with a team-leading 9.3 rebounds per game, which is a career high so far. She is averaging 9.6 rebounds while shooting 46.0 percent (23-50) from the field and 81.6 percent (31-38) from the free throw line--all career marks eight games into the 2024-25 campaign.
