Mariners Tame Terriers

Box Score WATERVILLE, Maine -- Hazel Stoddard scored six goals and dished out three assists, while Aubrey Mitchell scored four goals to lead the Mariners to a 17-6 victory over Thomas College.
 
The Mariners came out strong against the Terriers, scoring the first three goals, two from Stoddard and one from Rebecca Caron in the first five minutes of the contest. Thomas found the back of the net to get on the board before a quick answer from Stoddard on a free position shot. Thomas scored one more goal before Bella Scolaro ended the opening quarter with a goal to make the score 5-2. Maine Maritime completely dominated the second quarter, outscoring the Terriers 6-1 to extend their lead to 11-3 going into the half. 
 
The Mariners held onto their lead in the second half, scoring three goals in the third quarter and two more in the fourth quarter to claim a 17-6 win over Thomas College.
 
The Mariners out shot the Terriers 33-21 and held a 14-8 advantage in ground balls. Rebecca Caron scored three goals for the Mariners, while Scolaro, Lillian Diversi, and Chloe Coombs each scored one.
 
Ella Bowes spent 60 minutes in net for the Mariners, tallying six saves on the night, while Bristol Sine and Gwendolyn Schillie split time for the Terriers with one and nine saves respectively. 
 
Maine Maritime returns to action on Saturday, March 23 at 11:00pm when they host UMaine-Farmington for their conference opener on Ritchie Field.
