Maine Maritime Wraps Up Regular Season with Big NAC Road Win at Thomas

WATERVILLE, Maine--Senior Brendan Reddington led all scorers with 10 points on his way to setting a school record for single-season assists, and junior
Trey Marcil notched a game-high seven goals among nine points, as the Maine Maritime Academy men's lacrosse team concluded its regular season with a commanding 21-9 victory over host Thomas College in North Atlantic Conference play on Wednesday evening on Smith Field.

Maine Maritime has won four-straight to improve to 8-5 overall and 5-0 in the NAC, while the Terriers are now 4-10 on the season and 3-2 in the conference.

  • Reddington scored four goals and dished six assists to become the all-time single-season assists leader in MMA history.
  • Marcil set a personal record with his seven tallies and he produced nine ground balls for another career best.
  • Senior Sam Nichol registered a hat trick among four points, while freshmen Ryan Dunstan (3 points), Tristan Reinhold (3 points), and sophomore Bryce Crowell had two goals apiece.
  • Sophomore goalie Andrew Noyes returned to the lineup and made 11 stops for the win.
  • Crowell also was dominant in the face-off "X" by winning 23 of 31 draws and collecting a game-best 12 ground balls.
  • Classmates Finnian O'Donnell and Matthew Villeneuve spearheaded the defense with six ground balls each.

  • Owen Lyons paced the Terriers with four points on two goals and two assists.
  • Timothy Worster also had four points on three tallies.
How it Happened
  • Connor Hamilton gave Thomas a 1-0 lead with 13 minutes and 23 seconds left in the first quarter before Reddington equaled just 10 seconds later to spark MMA to six unanswered goals, and the Mariners never trailed after that.
  • Maine Maritime took a 6-3 advantage after the first quarter and led 9-6 at the intermission.
  • The Mariners took control of the game by outscoring the Terriers 12-3 in the second half.
  • Maine Maritime also had statistical advantages in shots (57-34), shots on goal (37-20), clears (11-13/11-20), ground balls (45-23) and face-off wins (24-8).
Inside the Boxscore
  • Reddington, who now has 45 assists this season, broke Jayden Wilson's 2023 standard of 41.
  • He also overtook freshman Tobey Lappin for the team lead with 70 points, which is a career high.
  • The Mariners' four-game winning streak is a season high.
  • Maine Maritime has never lost to Thomas in 22 all-time meetings.
  • The Mariners, who are 26-3 in NAC play under six-year head coach Brandon Melville, have won 10 consecutive conference games dating back to last season.
