Football announces Cline, Davis, Ladipo as assistant coaches

CASTINE, Maine — The Maine Maritime Academy Football Program announced the hiring of Kelly Cline, Landon Davis, and Joshua Ladipo as assistant coaches on Thursday.

"We're excited to welcome Kelly, Landon, and Josh to our staff here at Maine Maritime," head football coach Nick Sheehan said. "Each of them brings great energy, knowledge of the game, and a commitment to helping our players develop on and off the field. They're going to be a big part of building the foundation for the future of Mariner football."

Cline joins MMA after serving as assistant defensive backs coach and film coordinator at the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse in 2023, following a stint as assistant linebackers coach from 2022–23.

Off the field, she was the 2024 Scott Pioli and Family Fund Grant recipient, attended the NFL Women's Forum in 2023 and 2024, the Brown University Female Football Forum in both years, and the WFCA Annual Clinic.

"I am honored and excited to be hired as the defensive backs coach at Maine Maritime Academy," Cline said. "I'm ready to help build something special with this team and Coach Sheehan's staff."

A 2023 graduate of UW–La Crosse, Cline earned a Bachelor of Science in exercise and sport science and sport management with minors in business administration and digital media design.

Davis arrives in Castine after working as assistant tight ends coach at Wingate University (2023–24), offensive and defensive line coach at Oxbridge Academy (2024–25), and defensive line coach at Hocking College.

He began his playing career as a linebacker at Wingate, where he was part of the No.1-ranked defense in NCAA Division II, before transferring to the University of Florida.

"I'm incredibly honored to join Maine Maritime Academy as we bring back varsity football," Davis said. "There's a real sense of pride and purpose in being part of this historic return, and I'm excited to help lay the foundation for the program's future success."

A 2025 graduate of Florida, Davis earned a Bachelor of Science in sport management.
Ladipo joins the Mariners after serving as assistant defensive coordinator at Raymond High School in 2024 and defensive coordinator at Pembroke Academy in 2023. He also worked as assistant defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach for the Seacoast Warhawks from 2022–24, following a collegiate career as a defensive back at Husson University.

"I would like to thank Coach Sheehan for giving me this opportunity," Ladipo said. "I'm excited to be part of a program that has such a rich and storied history."

A 2022 graduate of Husson, Ladipo earned a Bachelor of Science in health sciences before completing a Master of Physician Assistant Studies at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in 2024.
