Hometown: West Chester, Pennsylvania

Major: Vessel Operations and Technology

Anticipated Graduation Year: December 2019

What made you come to Maine Maritime Academy?: The VOT program and the reputation Maine Maritime has among companies in the industry.

What first got you interested in your sport?: My parents signed me up for soccer when I was five and I have been playing it ever since! I love everything about it, the physical and social aspects of it.

What has been your favorite class at MMA?: Workboat Operations on the Tug Pentagoet.

What is the best advice your coach has given you?: That we, as athletes are students first and are here to get a degree.

What motivates you to succeed?: I have always had a hard working attitude to do my best in school, sports, and work, because if you’re going to do something there’s no reason to put less than 100% in.

What is your prized possession?: My dog, Riley.

What is your favorite book? (Non-academic): Into the Wild.

What is something that people would be surprised to learn about you?: I am in a national fraternity from WPI.

What are your hopes for the future?: To become the captain of a tugboat in NYC and buy a lake house on lake Winnipesaukee.

What is your favorite spot in Castine/on Campus? Why?: The backshore because of the sunsets.

Tell us about a summer experience related to MMA?: I worked on a Moran tugboat this past summer on the Delaware River as a deckhand, standing lookout and handling lines while also doing deck maintenance and learning about all the systems onboard.

What has been your favorite moment so far while playing at MMA?: My first rivalry game with Husson this past season, after coming off a tough weekend loss at SUNY Canton, our new black jerseys came in and we went to Husson as underdogs and played our best game of the season up to that point beating them 2-0 in the rain.

Who is your favorite professional athlete? Why?: Claude Giroux, the captain of the Philadelphia Flyers. He was a late round draft pick who is undersized and they said he would never make it in the NHL. He’s now second all time in scoring for the franchise, has been captain for the past four seasons, and is third in the NHL in points since 2012 when he was put on the cover of EA Sports NHL.
